 Hoody's Loop


Distance: 3 miles Rating: Beginner
Starting Elevation: 8,950 ft. Top Elevation: 8,950 ft.
A great introductory trail for novices to high-elevation riding, and a good warm-up ride for all levels. Heads north from the base area through the parking lot and down the Forest Service road toward Hwy. 550. Before reaching the highway, take the single-track trail to the left and continue north to the end at Cascade Village. Return via the opposite direction.


Silver Pick

Silver Pick at DMR
Distance: 3 miles Rating: Beginner
Starting Elevation: 8,950 ft. Top Elevation: 8,950 ft.
Begins at Purgatory Village and heads south, past the Columbine cabin through aspen glades and spruce forests. You’ll pass by beaver ponds and wetlands on your way to Silverpick Lodge and the Sow’s Ear restaurant, where you can grab a bite before returning along the same route


Brush Rake


Distance: 1.7 miles Rating: Beginner
Starting Elevation: 9,930 ft. Top Elevation: 9,950 ft.
From the top of the Twilight Lift, Brush Rake is a great first-time trail or a warm-up for advanced riders. For more of a challenge, this trail can be run in reverse, which changes the rating to intermediate. Distance and elevation are measured from the top of the Twilight Lift.


Gelande Overlook

Distance: 1.8 miles Rating: Intermediate
Starting Elevation: 9,930 ft. Top Elevation: 8,950 ft.
Try something different and exciting – visit Purgatory Sports to rent a Diggler, the all-terrain mountain scooter. Take a scenic chairlift ride to the top of the Twilight Lift and prepare for an exciting descent on the all-downhill trail.


Paul's Park


Distance: 6.4 miles Rating: Intermediate
Starting Elevation: 9,930 ft. Top Elevation: 10,800 ft.
This trail takes you from the front side to the back side via the Forest Service road at the top of the Twilight Lift and climbs to the top of the mountain. Follow the signs through two gates leading out of and back into the ski area boundary. The second half of the ride is a downhill traverse across the backside of the resort.


Goo Creek


Distance: 5.6 miles Rating: Intermediate
Starting Elevation: 9,930 ft. Top Elevation: 10,430 ft.
Follow the signs for this great intermediate trail up the Forest Service road to the top of the Twilight Lift. The out-and-back section leads to the Legends Lift and a picnic area with gorgeous views. Follow the signs back to the fork, turn left, and return to the Twilight Lift. This trail is closed until July 1 to minimize disturbance of calving elk in Hermosa Park. 


Harris Park


Distance: 3.6 miles Rating: Intermediate
Starting Elevation: 9,930 ft. Top Elevation: 9,930 ft.
This loop travels through the spacious and beautiful Hermosa Creek Valley and along a series of snowcat trails down the north face of the mountain. In the valley, the trail crosses onto Hermosa Road to Pasture Creek Falls, a scenic rest spot. Distance and elevation are measured from the top of the Twilight Lift. This trail is closed until July 1 to minimize disturbance of calving elk in Hermosa Park.


Los Pinos


Distance: 5 miles Rating: Intermediate
Starting Elevation: 9,930 ft. Top Elevation: 10,230 ft.
Follow the signs for this more remote ride up the Forest Service road from the top of the Twilight Lift. Go around the orange gate and continue along the trail. The end of the ride is flat to downhill and finishes at the Forest Service road.


Diggler

Starting Elevation: 9,930 ft. Top Elevation: 8,950 ft.

World Cup

World Cup Course at Durango Mountain Resort

Distance: 7 miles Rating: Advanced
Starting Elevation: 8,950 ft. Top Elevation: 9,860 ft.
Purgatory’s signature eight-mile loop challenges even the best riders. Durango’s own Ned Overend won the first-ever MTB cross country championship by completing four laps on this trail in 2 hours, 28 minutes and 31 seconds. Starting from the Purgatory Express Lift, most recreational riders take at least an hour to complete one lap. Watch for two-way traffic.
