SNOW KEEPS DUMPING AT PURGATORY MOUNTAIN

Durango, CO – Mother Nature has finally turned her attention to the southwest corner of Colorado as a pair of storms out of the west dropped nearly two feet of snow on Purgatory Mountain and snow is still falling. The first storm moved into the Durango area late Tuesday night and left behind 12 inches of fresh powder for skiers and snowboarders. Another storm, following close behind, started dumping snow around 9 am on Thursday and grew with intensity as the day progressed with larger and heavier snowflakes.

The majority of new snow fell Thursday night with 9 inches reported on Friday morning. Snow continues to fall at Purgatory mountain and the forecast is calling for another 3-7 inches of snow possible today and an additional 1-3 inches expected overnight.. The three day total of 23 inches is the biggest snow accumulation at Purgatory Mountain this season.

Purgatory Mountain is 99 percent open with a 54 inch mid-mountain base depth with powder conditions. With the best snow of the season falling in March, the resort will allow Weekday Passes Monday – Friday during Spring Break next week.
