BIG POWDER DAY AT PURGATORY MOUNTAIN
Storm drops 20 inches on San Juan Mountains
Durango, CO - The Snow Gods have smiled on Durango Mountain Resort as the latest storm front dropped 20 inches on the resort in the last two days. 15 inches from the storm total fell yesterday afternoon and overnight, leaving behind prime powder conditions as the slopes opened this morning.
The new snowfall allowed mountain operations to open the remaining 5 trails on the mountain. Purgatory is now 100 percent open with 10 lifts operating and 85 trails open with a 53 inch mid-mountain base depth and powder conditions.
The extended forecast is calling for continued cold temperatures with snowfall expected to fall throughout the weekend with another 5-10 inches possible through Sunday. A new storm front is expected to move in early next week bringing more fresh snow to Purgatory Mountain.
