IT'S DUMPING AT PURGATORY, AGAIN
Nearly two feet of accumulation as snow continues to fall
Durango, CO - Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort continues to get dumped on as the latest storm front moved in Friday afternoon and dropped nearly two feet of snow in two days. Snow continues to fall in the San Juan Mountains, and the resort boasts one of the deepest bases in Colorado at 82 inches mid-mountain with epic powder conditions.
The new year has proved fruitful for Purgatory as a large storm settled over the resort during the first week of 2005. The first storm of the cycle dumped 20 inches, the second left 33 inches, and with the latest 20 inches so far, the resort's snow total is more than 6 feet in two weeks.
Forecasts are calling for and continued snowfall through mid-week; the San Juan Mountains could see up to 3 feet from this storm. Attached is a photo of skier Matthias Giraud taking advantage of the epic slope conditions and a photo of the large snow piles in front of, and on top of Purgy's bathrooms.
