Welcome To The Village of Sugar Mountain

Since 1969 the Village of Sugar Mountain has become known as one of the High Country's most attractive vacation destinations. Perhaps it's because with a peak elevation of 5,300' we have North Carolina's largest ski and snowboarding resort, and the only one to feature a 1,200' vertical drop. Or maybe it's because of our challenging 18-hole golf course or our six Har-Tru clay tennis courts, where you can work on your backhand as soon as you've finished the back nine. Could it be the miles and miles of twisting mountain bike trails or the incredible views from the summer lift rides? It could be the rainbow of rhododendrons, mountain laurels and azaleas in the spring. Or maybe it's the rich red, orange and gold hues of the autumn foliage.

Then there's the annual Oktoberfest celebration... There are just so many reasons and seasons to visit the Village of Sugar Mountain all year long!

With an average annual snowfall of 78" and state-of-the-art snowmaking equipment, Sugar Mountain offers winter sports enthusiasts a fabulous white playground! Depending on your level of expertise, you can choose from among the 20 groomed trails and take one of eight lifts to your destination. For the novice and those in need of a quick refresher, professional ski and snowboard instructors offer a variety of lessons for all ages. Come to Sugar and experience the thrill of night skiing, slide down our tubing park, or even learn to ice skate or snowshoe. Many of the rental properties at the Village of Sugar are located so close to the slopes that you can literally ski right out your back door! All the more reason to take advantage of the Winter Value Packages offering reduced rates on lodging, lift tickets, rental equipment and ski lessons for the whole family. And after a full day of fun in the snow, snuggle up by the fireplace with a cup of cocoa and make your plans for tomorrow.

There's no place more beautiful than the High Country in the spring and summer months. With an average temperature in the mid-70's, Sugar Mountain is the place to beat the heat and drink up some of the most beautiful scenery around. If you're searching for views that will take your breath away, then a chairlift ride is a must. You can also enjoy the views while you play a round or two of golf. And, the fresh mountain air in the fall can only improve your tennis game! Mountain biking enthusiasts will find our diverse and challenging trails to be unforgettable as well, and hikers will find our walking trails among some of the areas most scenic.

The Village of Sugar Mountain offers a variety of lodging choices. From intimate, economical one and two bedroom condos, to exclusive Swiss chalets featuring native stone fireplaces and unlimited ambience, your special getaway is the perfect homebase from which to explore the mountains. Located in the heart of the High Country, the Village of Sugar Mountain is only minutes from Blowing Rock, Boone and Banner Elk where visitors can enjoy a variety of arts and crafts festivals, live music, open air markets, antique shops and fine restaurants.

With Sugar Mountain's year-round blend of adventure, beauty and comfort, it's no wonder visitors return season after season, year after year. Whether you've got a few days to relax or a few weeks to explore, you'll agree– the Village at Sugar Mountain is the ultimate year-round mountain playground!
