BENEFIT DAY CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Local non profits invited to apply for resort's annual benefit day fundraising event

Durango, CO -- Durango Mountain Resort will host the 13th Annual Benefit Day on Wednesday, November 24th, kicking off the 2005-06 winter season. Every year the resort offers $10 lift tickets the day before the official opening day, with all proceeds going to a local non-profit organization. In 2004, Benefit Day raised more than $20,000 for the Durango Discovery Museum.

For those interested in applying to be the 2005 beneficiary, criteria stipulate only that the group be an area non-profit organization. Applicants should include general description about the non-profit organization, what service the group provides the area community, and how funds would be utilized to further that service. Applications are being accepted until September 16th, and proposals should be routed to Annie Simonson, Durango Mountain Resort, #1 Skier Place, Durango, 81301.

Last year the Durango Discovery Museum used the funds from Benefit Day for development at the 1893 Durango Power Plant, the museum's new location. Previous recipients include the Southwest Safehouse, the Durango Arts Center and the San Juan Mountain's Association. Since 1994, Durango Mountain Resort has donated more than $200,000 to local non-profit organizations through Benefit Day.
