As of today we’ve received 289 inches of snow this season- here’s how that stacks up to previous seasons of snowfall, tracked since 1974:
2004-2005 was our snowiest season in the past five years. We ended the season with 296 inches total.
1996-1997 was our snowiest season in the past 10 (actually 11) years. We ended that season with 315.5 inches.
This time of the season in 1997 the resort had accumulated 280 inches. We are well on our way to surpassing this big snow year. If we do surpass the 1996-97 season that will makes this year our 5th snowiest winter in recorded resort history.
December was the second snowiest December in recorded resort history with 99 inches. The snowiest December was 1978-79 with 109 inches.
January was the 5th snowiest January in recorded resort history with 93 inches. The snowiest January was 1979-80 with 105.5 inches.
February is so far the third snowiest February in recorded resort history with 87 inches to date. The snowiest February was 1992-93 with 112 inches. Forecasters are calling for more storms during the final week of February with a foot of accumulation expected on Sunday night and more snow through Tuesday. If we get the minimum forecasted we will have the second snowiest February in recorded resort history.
The biggest recorded snow season at the resort was 1974-75 when we ended with 490 inches total.
