STORM DROPS 9 INCHES ON PURGATORY MOUNTAIN

Durango, CO –  Another storm system moved through southwestern Colorado yesterday and today and left behind almost a foot of new snow at Purgatory Mountain. The bulk of the storm came yesterday when 5 inches fell on the mountain by noon and another three inches came overnight.  With this latest snow, the resort has a 66-inch mid-mountain base depth with powder/packed powder conditions.

This is the fourth biggest storm in just the first two months of the winter season. The resort has already received nearly 14 feet of snow, surpassing the total snowfall at the resort this same time last year.   In true Purgatory fashion, the storm continues to shower light snowflakes on the resort with bluebird skies in-between. The cold snap that covered most of the country this past week has since moved out and Durango boasts comfortable temperatures in the mid to low 30’s.

The snow came just in time for this weekend’s events, including the SheRide Snowboard Camp, an all female weekend for athletes ranging from beginners to experts. SheRide features on and off-mountain training sessions, social events and more. There will be a second SheRide Snowboard Camp February 22-24th.
