NEARLY 5 FEET FALLS ON PURGATORY MOUNTAIN

16 inches falls in 24 hours and it continues to snow

Durango, CO – Winter is in full force at Purgatory Mountain after a pair of back-to-back storms dumped snow on the southwest corner of Colorado. The resort received another 16 inches of snow overnight, bringing the storm total to 53 inches in just five days. Large, light snowflakes continue to fall accumulating.

Snow began falling at Purgatory last week when the first storm moved in and dropped 12 inches over Wednesday and Thursday. The second, and bigger, storm moved in after a small break on Thursday and pummeled the resort through the rest of the weekend. There is a slight chance for additional snow today.

Purgatory Mountain is 99 percent open with a 67 inch mid-mountain base depth with powder conditions. March has proved the snowiest month this winter for the resort with 53 inches falling in only 12 days. January was the second snowiest month with 41.5 inches. With the best snow of the season falling in March, the resort will allow Weekday Passes Monday – Friday during Spring Break next week.
