FREE REFILLS AT PURGATORY MOUNTAIN
Storm dumps snow at rate of an inch per hour
Durango, CO – March is shaping up to be the snowiest month at Purgatory Mountain. A storm system that sputtered out two inches overnight has picked up momentum and currently is dropping about an inch of snow per hour with additional 4 inches falling from 9 am to noon. Free refills are the order of the day as snow piles up over skied tracks. The forecast is calling for an additional 1-3 inches of snowfall today and 2-4 inches of accumulation overnight. The storm is expected to continue dumping snow on Purgatory Mountain with another 4-8 inches possible on Sunday.
Purgatory Mountain has 100 percent of its beginner and intermediate trails open and 99 percent of advanced trails open on a 65 inch mid-mountain base depth and powder conditions. The resort received nearly five feet of snow from a pair of storm that pounded the resort last week. After a slow snowfall start to the season, Purgatory has received 63 inches of snow in March alone, accounting for one-third of the season’s total snow fall.
Purgatory is blowing out rooms for the remainder of the season. Guests can take advantage of the best conditions of the season and stay conveniently slopeside with Purgatory’s Slopeside Studio Blowout. The package includes one night lodging, slopeside at Purgatory Village Hotel and two lift tickets for only $129 per night. Some restrictions apply, call 800-982-6102 or visit www.durangomountainresort.com for reservations.
