BENEFIT CONCERT RAISES $5235 FOR PUBLIC RADIO
Iguanas perform for crowd of more than 500 dancers

Durango, CO – For one night last weekend Purgatory Village was transformed into a New Orleans hot spot with live music from the Iguanas. The popular dance band played a benefit concert that raised $10,160 for KSUT. After entertainment fees $5235 went directly to the local public radio station for future programming.

The $20 tickets sold out in many locations including the Durango Mountain Ticket office. The audience, ranging in age from 1-60, put their dancing shoes to the test, spending nearly the entire evening crowding the dance lawn in front of the stage. The Iguanas played for a packed house until 10 pm.

KSUT will use the funds raised to support local programming including local news, the Music Blend, Tribal Beat and live event coverage throughout the year. “The 2nd Annual benefit concert was a huge success,” said Beth Warren, KSUT Executive Director. “And we simply would not have been able to do it without Durango Mountain Resort’s help. They donated the venue, the lodging event staff and more. We appreciate all they have done to support the station.”

Continuing the tradition of great music at Durango Mountain Resort, the 18th annual Music in the Mountains begins next week. Twelve concerts will be held in the Purgatory Village Tent, at the base of Purgatory Mountain, including the fan-favorite Pops night on July 27 featuring music from the Big Band Era.
