PURGATORY MOUNTIAN BENEFIT DAY THIS FRIDAY

Proceeds benefit Trails 2000, a local non-profit organization

Durango, CO – Get into the holiday giving spirit and have fun on the slopes this Friday as Purgatory Mountain hosts the 13th annual Benefit Day, December 16th with $10 lift tickets and all proceeds going to Trails 2000. Purgatory Mountain will have the Purgatory Village Express 6-Pack operating on Benefit Day, offering top to bottom skiing and snowboarding.

Benefit Day tickets are on sale now at Albertson’s, City Market and Nature’s Oasis. Pre-sale lift tickets will be entered into a raffle worth a Purgatory Season Pass and a trip to Kirkwood Mountain Resort in California. Benefit Day tickets will also be available in the Purgatory main ticket office on Friday; tickets purchased on Benefit Day will not be entered into the raffle. Season passes will not be valid on Benefit Day.

Trails 2000 focuses on enhancing the outdoors in southwest Colorado by working on community trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding, and making trails accessible for all people from children to seniors. The non-profit group was founded in 1990 and since then has organized thousands of volunteers, working on an average of 27 trails covering 103 miles each year.

The funds collected from Benefit Day will be used to help Trails 2000 lease a new trail machine. The small, specialized piece of motorized equipment will be used for key projects to maintain and construct trail-width paths that are user friendly, sustainable and environmentally sensitive.

Last year’s event raised more than $23,000 for the Durango Discovery Museum, and Benefit Day has raised more than $190,000 for local non-profit groups since 1994.
