PURGATORY LEADS COLORADO WITH A FOOT OF SNOW
Durango, CO – The snow gods turned their attention to the southern part of the state today as a storm blanketed Purgatory Mountain with 12 inches of fresh snow. The storm began yesterday afternoon and continued overnight, with local Durangoans waking up to a big powder day. Purgatory received the most snow in Colorado and has one of the biggest storm totals in the country. The forecast is calling for continued snowfall through today with an additional 3-5 inches of accumulation possible.
Purgatory has received 17 inches of snow in the past week and is 95 percent open with 100 percent of its beginner and intermediate trails. The push from Mother Nature will help mountain crews prepare the Paradise Freestyle Arena for opening.
