SKI FOR SCHOOLS DAY AT PURGATORY
Discounted day on the slopes benefits Durango Foundation for Education Excellence

Durango, CO - Purgatory Mountain will host the second annual Ski for Schools Day, benefiting the Durango Foundation for Educational Excellence and Durango School District 9-R programs, Monday, February 28. Last year more than 500 people participated in the inaugural Ski for Schools Day raising over $5000 for local schools. This year organizers hope to triple the number of lift tickets sold and raise more than $15,000.

Lift tickets are only $25 and are now available at all District 9-R schools and Albertson's, Nature's Oasis and both City Markets. Discounted Ski for Schools Day tickets will be on-sale through February 27 and Fort Lewis College will sell tickets on Wednesday, February 16 in the Student Union. Tickets must be pre-purchased and The DFEE will receive $10 of every lift ticket sold.

Discounts are available on rentals, lesson and lunches during the DFEE event. Ski rental packages start at $9 and full day snowboarding rentals cost just $15. Half-day beginner ski lesson are available for $19 and Hoody's Base Camp will feature a special pizza and soda lunch for $5.

Free transportation to and from the resort is available on Monday with three departure and drop off locations. Busses will arrive at Durango High School and Escalante Middle School at 8 am and depart for Purgatory at 8:15 am, stopping at Animas Valley Elementary School at approximately 8:45 am. Busses will leave Purgatory from the Columbine Parking lot at 4 pm and are expected to return to Animas Valley Elementary at 4:30 pm, Escalante Middle School at 4:45 pm and Durango High School at 4:50 pm.

Durango Mountain Resort and DFEE will also sell scholarship packages, which provide students who are unable to afford Ski for School's Day a complete package of lift ticket, rentals and lunch. Scholarship vouchers are $50 and may be purchased by local businesses or donors.
