Burton Learn to Ride
The Learn to Ride program was developed by Burton and snowboard instructors worldwide to make learning to ride easy, painless and fun. The goal of the LTR program is to have students linking turns their first day out and coming back for more. Burton developed boards, boots and bindings specifically for learning. A lot of time has been spent working with instructors and resorts to create an ideal environment for learning to ride and more importantly, making sure to have fun.
What is a Method Center?
A Method Center is the home of the Learn to Ride program. It is a Burton supported learning facility that believes learning to ride should be painless and fun. Method Center resorts have made a commitment to Burton Snowboards and to teaching snowboarding the easiest and fastest way possible. Here’s what you can expect at a Method Center:
-
Burton product developed specifically for learning
-
Lower student to teacher ratio
-
Appropriate learning terrain
-
Shops that set you up right the first time (Purgatory’s Rental Shop)
The LTR system is designed to be taught within the guidelines set by AASI, (American Association of Snowboard instructors). It fits easily with prescribed methods and progressions already accepted by PSIA.
How It All Works
The purpose of the LTR program is to provide equipment that works in conjunction with teaching methodologies to make learning how to snowboard easy, painless, and fun.
The Learn to Ride equipment line-up includes a two-board progression, the LTR and Cruzer. Theses boards change the way newcomers learn the sport. With four years of development behind them, these boards are making learning to ride painless, easy and fun. They have built in features that enhance the learning experience. LTR boards help beginners link turns the first day while keeping falls to an absolute minimum.
The beginning board in the two-board progression is the Learn to Ride (LTR) board. It has the features riders need to enjoy their very first day on the hill; these features enhance the learning experience:
-
Special tune to prevent unwanted edge hook ups
-
Soft torsional flex to enhance lower body steering
-
Deep side cut to pull the rider into a natural carve
Once riders have learned to link turns, they are ready to move up to the Cruzer board. The Cruzer is the ultimate tool for taking riding to the next level, and exploring the rest of the mountain.
