Steamworks Brewing Co. opened its doors in Durango in September 1996. A favorite watering hole for locals & visitors alike, the brewpub has much more to offer that award-winning craft beer. Known as a town meeting place, Steamworks enjoys a bustling, fun environment.
Steamworks' culinary program is unmatched in the region in both breadth and quality of offerings. Its "gastropub" fare includes regionally raised meats and sustainable seafood. Health salads, delicious pizzas, spicy Southwestern-style dishes and vegetarian and gluten-free offerings provide something for everyone.
On the mountain, Steamworks will feature Nitro Backside Stout on draft at Purgy’s, The Backside Bistro and The Powderhouse this winter. Inspired by the turns under Chair 8 at Purgatory, the Stout has an extremely complex malt and oat flavor. It’s sweet with chocolate and roast overtones. The addition of the perfect amount of brewer’s oats is detectable in the smooth, silky finish. This moderately hopped ale is a great choice for dark beer, chocolate or coffee lovers and has earned both Gold and Bronze Medals at the Great American Beer Festival since 2010.
Durango Mountain Resort is proud to partner with Steamworks Brewing Company. Visit the Steamworks website at http://www.steamworksbrewing.com or head to their restaurant downtown, 801 East 2nd Avenue.
El Moro Spirits & Tavern
El Moro Spirits & Tavern was created in the building that once housed the El Moro Saloon in the early 1900's (see image). The food is modern-rustic: common foods from the early 20th century created with modern culinary techniques. Handcrafted cocktails, an extensive beer list and forty wines, all approachable & affordable, grace the beverage menu.
