Steamworks Brewing Company opened its doors in September 1996 in Durango, Colorado. A gathering place for a meal and a cold one for locals and visitors alike, our Durango brewpub has much more to offer than just cold, delicious brew. Known to be a town meeting place, it’s a bustling, fun environment. Just watch out for youngsters doodling on the concrete and the occasional mountain bike racer or horseman seen trotting through for a cold one.

Backside Stout is on tap at Purgy’s.  Inspired by the turns under Chair 8 at Purgatory, the Stout has an extremely complex malt and oat flavor. It’s sweet with chocolate and roast overtones. The addition of the perfect amount of brewer’s oats is detectable in the smooth, silky finish. This moderately hopped ale is a great choice for dark beer, chocolate or coffee lovers and has earned a gold medal for oatmeal stouts at the Great American Beer Festival, held every year in Denver, Colorado.
